On March 6, 2026, the News and Digital Communication and the Media and Informatics Production Sections of the Division of Corporate Communications visited the field to interview Assistant Professor Dr. Litavadee Chuaboon and Associate Professor Dr. Wichitpan Rongwong, researchers from Walailak University.
The interview focused on their successful development of an innovation that transforms oil palm empty fruit bunches, an agricultural by-product valued at only 0.10 baht per kilogram, into Levulinic Acid, a high-value biochemical precursor with a market value reaching millions of baht.
This innovation demonstrates how agricultural waste can be converted into valuable bio-based chemicals, contributing to sustainable resource utilization and value creation in the bioeconomy.
