Ms. Supanee Phetcharanant, Head of Reception and Image Communication at the Division of Corporate Communication, Walailak University, attended the 9th National University Affairs Promotion Committee Meeting at Maejo University in Chiang Mai Province, from November 1 to 3, 2024. The purpose of the event was to strengthen relationships and networks among various institutions, enhancing collective capacities for the benefit of society, the economy, and communities.
The National University Affairs Promotion Committee Meeting includes representatives from a range of educational institutions, such as universities under the Council of University Presidents of Thailand, Rajabhat Universities, Rajamangala University of Technology, and private institutions. For Walailak University, Mr. Jamroen Thippayapongthada serves as the chair of the University Affairs Promotion Committee.
This year’s seminar focused on the theme “The Role of the University Affairs Promotion Committee in Achieving Net Zero by 2065.” The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, who delivered a keynote address on “The Role of the University Affairs Promotion Committee in Advancing Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation in Thailand.” He also outlined policies aimed at collectively driving Thailand toward a tangible Net Zero goal. Maejo University and its University Affairs Promotion Committee hosted the event, welcoming over 150 members from 45 institutions nationwide.
Throughout the seminar, committee members exchanged ideas on strategies to reach Net Zero by integrating research, teaching, and management practices with the Green University concept. Participants also had the opportunity to visit Maejo University’s notable projects, such as the university farm, Asia’s largest organic waste composting facility utilizing earthworms, organic fertilizer production, and more.
