Walailak University’s Division of Corporate Communication, in collaboration with the School of Architecture and Design, has revamped the University’s annual calendar for 2026. Departing from the traditional photographic style, the new edition features classic watercolor paintings designed to evoke a sense of relaxation and connection with nature.
The project was advised by Assoc. Prof. Banchongsak Pimpthong from the School of Architecture and Design. The calendar includes 14 distinct watercolor works created by Interior Design students Ms. Nichaphat Suwannachatree, Ms. Noppanatsurang Chuchoay, and Mr. Pathanapol Khunpakdee.
In a creative departure from standard desk calendars, the 2026 edition adopts a “semi-postcard” format. Each month is printed on an individual card featuring double-sided watercolor illustrations, accompanied by a wooden display base, the custom packaging, and a collectible concept design. This approach allows recipients to utilize the cards not only as a calendar but also as postcards to send messages or keep as memorable souvenirs.
The vision for this year’s edition was shaped by Asst. Prof. Dr. Fareeda Jeh-oh, Assistant to the President and Acting Head of the Division of Corporate Communication. Translating this vision into reality is Mr. Bunpoht Baimiden, General Administration Officer and lead designer of the University’s annual calendar. While previous designs utilized professional photography to document significant infrastructure developments under the leadership of President Prof. Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, the current layout has been adapted to showcase watercolor art, aiming for a softer, more emotional impact.
By transitioning from realistic photography to the gentle and natural aesthetics of watercolor, the 2026 calendar offers a soothing visual experience—designed to put viewers at ease while sparking curiosity about the atmosphere of Walailak University’s beautiful campus.
