
Media outlets in Nakhon Si Thammarat showed strong interest in covering the international conference “Walailak Research Convention 2026” (WRC 2026), which focuses on advancing carbon neutrality and sustainability.
The event attracted coverage from several local media organizations, including the National Broadcasting Services of Thailand (NBT), Radio Thailand Nakhon Si Thammarat, MCOT Radio Nakhon Si Thammarat, and the social media page This is KHON. Representatives from these outlets visited Walailak University to report on the conference and share news and images from the international academic event, helping bring global environmental developments and sustainability initiatives to the wider public.
WRC 2026 was held under the theme “Global Higher Education Synergy in Driving Carbon Neutrality and Sustainability.” The conference was organized to celebrate the 34th anniversary of the establishment of Walailak University and aims to promote collaboration in advancing carbon neutrality and sustainable development. The event brought together researchers, academics, and distinguished speakers from more than 17 countries worldwide to exchange knowledge and ideas from March 25–28, 2026.
The official opening ceremony took place on March 26 at the Bussarakum Meeting Room, Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Natural History Museum, Walailak University. The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Punpermsak Aruni, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI). Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, delivered the welcome remarks, while Associate Professor Dr. Siwarit Pongsakornrungsilp, Vice President for Research and Innovation, presented the conference report.
