Walailak University’s Division of Corporate Communication (DCC), together with the Research and Innovation Institute of Excellence (RIIE), held the workshop Walailak PR Network 2026 under the theme “Transforming Researchers into Master Communicators” on July 18, 2026. The event brought in Mr. Jesada Jeesala, evening news anchor at Thai PBS, to give more than 35 researchers hands-on coaching in communicating research findings in ways that are simple, engaging, and persuasive. Associate Professor Dr. Surin Maisrikrod, Vice President for Education and Corporate Communications at Walailak University, delivered the welcome remarks. The workshop was held at the Khao Luang Chamber, Cooperative Education Building.
Opening the session, Mr. Jesada compared researchers to chefs: their job, he said, is to take raw, complex research data and “recook” it into a dish the public can easily digest and enjoy — rather than simply serving up all the raw ingredients at once.
He also walked participants through techniques for handling the media, covering how to respond to general questions, in-depth follow-ups, and manage crisis communications, where spokespeople must know the facts thoroughly and understand exactly how much information they are authorized to share.
The workshop went on to cover techniques for producing short videos for TikTok and Facebook, encouraging researchers to tap into human-interest angles, pose intriguing questions, and highlight compelling contradictions — all to hook viewers’ attention from the very first second.
The workshop is part of DCC’s ongoing effort to strengthen public communication skills among Walailak University’s researchers and staff, helping them translate academic knowledge into insights the public can understand and put to real use in society.
