The Division of Corporate Communications (DCC) played a central role in organizing this year’s community relations event, handling event preparations, guest registration, news coverage, and a full live broadcast via Walailak Channel.
On 18 September 2026, Walailak University, together with Tha Sala District and network partners, held the Walailak University Image Communication: Strengthening Ties with the Tha Sala Community event at the Bussarakum Meeting Room, Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Natural History Museum. More than 600 guests from government agencies, private organizations, community leaders, and the media registered and attended.
The event also received support from several university units, including the Center for Academic Services, the Center for Library Resources and Educational Media, Walailak University Hospital, the Division of Correspondence and General Affairs, Walailak Botanic Park, the Center for Digital Innovation, and the Science and Technology Park.
Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, delivered a keynote lecture on the university’s transformation toward world-class standing, highlighting its rise to 1201+ in the world and 6th in Thailand in the THE World University Rankings 2026, a record 56,900 applications for the 2026 academic year, and rankings of 47th globally and 3rd nationally for sustainability impact in the THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026.
Mr. Prasong Chanyoo, Chief of Tha Sala District, spoke on the university’s role as a driver of the local economy. The event also honored seven model communities for sustainable local development and closed with a panel discussion, University for Society: Advancing Sustainable Local Development.
Throughout the event, DCC’s team documented proceedings for the university’s official news and streamed the full program live via Walailak Channel, extending the event’s reach to audiences unable to attend in person. The coverage reflects DCC’s ongoing role in connecting Walailak University with the communities it serves, both on campus and across Tha Sala District.
