Assistant Professor Dr. Fareeda Jeh-oh, Assistant to the President overseeing the Division of Corporate Communications (DCC), together with Ms. Chonthicha Limpiti and Mr. Settaboot Onphakdee, officers from the News and Digital Communications Unit, joined the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Workshop organized by the Center for Academic Services, Walailak University.

Held at Pattarathammaporn Chamber, Walailak University Hospital, on May 5, 2026, the workshop aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of sustainable development and encourage the integration of SDGs into organizational practices through participatory learning processes.

The workshop was organized as part of Walailak University’s ongoing efforts to advance its sustainability mission in line with the university’s 20-year strategic plan (2018–2037), which emphasizes balanced development in economic, social, and environmental dimensions, as well as the promotion of Green University initiatives and carbon neutrality.

The event was presided over by Associate Professor Dr. Warit Jawjit, Vice President for Administration and Sustainable Development, who delivered a special lecture on “Walailak University’s Sustainability-Driven Policy.” The session highlighted the university’s strategic direction and commitment toward becoming a leading sustainable university at both national and international levels.

Another special lecture, titled “Carbon Neutrality for a Green University,” was delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Laksanara Khwanchum, Deputy Director of the Center for Academic Services. The lecture focused on approaches to advancing carbon neutrality through research, academic services, and responsible resource management.

Participants were also introduced to the Zero Carbon Thailand application, a platform designed to support carbon footprint calculation and carbon offsetting for events and organizational activities.

More than 50 administrators, lecturers, and staff members from various university units participated in the workshop. Activities included SDGs card games, Q&A sessions, group discussions, and collaborative idea-sharing designed to promote the practical implementation of sustainability initiatives across the university.

The workshop also reflected Walailak University’s continued commitment to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and reinforcing its vision of becoming a “University of Sustainability.”

According to the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2025, Walailak University was ranked No. 1 in the world for SDG 5: Gender Equality, alongside strong performances in SDG 2: Zero Hunger, SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 14: Life Below Water, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

Participation in the workshop provided DCC personnel with valuable insights into sustainability communication and strengthened their role in supporting the university’s mission to drive sustainable development through effective public communication and engagement.
